City of Roanoke and Roanoke Police Complaint

Move This Car If You Can - Abandoned Car

- 3823 Fleming Ave NE
There has been a car parked in the same spot on our street since April, 2009, perhaps longer. Several neighbors have called the police about it, the police or someone comes, then nothing happens. The City and the Police tell you to call when you see abandoned property so we can keep Roanoke beautiful. Last winter the City wanted all cars off the streets so they could plow more easily. We called then, nothing happened.

So here's the deal. In front of 3823 Fleming Ave NE sits an Olds ninety-eight Regency, black, license 304270 (handicap). License expires 9/10. Inspection expired 9/07. Car has been there since 4/09. It does not run, per owner. Key is lost or broken off in lock. Tires appear dry rotted. Appears to have a bees' nest inside. The owner, Marvin L Fowlkes, has been asked by more than one neighbor to move the car, but he says he can't. Police do nothing. City does nothing.

I have personally notified, Commissioner of the Revenue, City Police, State Police, and now, you as of this date. The car is a nuisance where it is, dangerous if it is harboring a bees' nest, and illegal since the inspection sticker is out of date. Is there insurance on the car? Have Personal Propery Taxes been paid? If the owner is going to let the car rot, then the least he can do is put it in his own driveway. That's all we ask.
