Modification to a vehicle contract - Lowering the payment to make it affordable

The vehicle was financed for 0.00 % interest at the time of delivery on April 2008; I was making the payment on time based on 5 years repayment period and $556.57 per month, it lasted for one year then I started to have financial issues during this period I continued to make half the payment and I contacted the lender and explained the situation and asked from them to extend the repayment period to lower the amount of the payment it was agreed. The payment was lowered to $455.71 by extending the period to 5 years. I made few payments and then I noticed that they have changed the interest rate to 6.75%. I became very upset and I complained I wasn't aware of the interest change. Many times I complained to the Executive Customer Service Relation @ Ally Bank without any result.
This is the issue that I have with them please give me your opinion whether I am right or wrong
