MJS Studios Complaint

Missing Wedding Photos - Photography

- Colmar, PA
8/1/09 My wedding day. The photographer took my pictures throughout the day & tried to capture all shots but there were 3 occasions where he failed. 1) He only get shots of 3/10 of my BMs going down the isle. 2) Throughout the wedding, his flash was broken & he had to keep taking 1-2 shots before taking the "real" shot. This was very irritating for my wedding party. There was NO backup photographer as promised to replace his flash. 3) At the reception, before the B&G entered the reception we discovered the photographer was not there (he got lost), making us postpone the cake cutting ceremony.

Aug - Oct 09 After the wedding, we viewed the pictures online on 8/26/2009. Then we were to have a consultation with a representative named Josh who set up an appt with my husband & I on 10/2/09 in which we both left work early to make. On the 2nd, Josh said that the application wasn't working & he had to reschedule & contacted me on 10/8/09 to set up the appt.

I didn't hear from Josh for ~2.5 wks so I contacted the studio & was informed that Josh was no longer available & they assigned me to a representative (Paul) who had the consultation with me (12/4/2009) & showed me collages of album pictures called the artistic look. I told Paul that was the look I liked & was also shown & promised to me when I originally viewed the package with Anita at David's Bridal. Paul said that I had the Tradional look not the artistic look which would be another $260 on top of the $1550 that was paid. I reluctantly agreed & paid for the look. Paul said to then pick pictures and send them to the studio.

Dec 09 - Feb 2010 I picked pictures, sent them to Paul & waited for a response (~12/09). Again, I didn't get a response for another 2+ weeks & contacted the studio to confirm their receipt. I was told that another rep, Paul, no longer worked for the company. I finally got confirmation, was told my album would be put together & I would just need to send a confirmation email once I viewed the completed album. I received the album & was informed that I was only allowed one change to the album at no cost (1/27/09). A photo was placed in my album that I did not pick which I asked them to replace. It was then sent back, corrected & re-approved & finally accepted (2/18/09).

After a few weeks had passed I called to ask about the status & was told that it would take 14-16 weeks for my pictures to come. This was the first time that I'd heard of this & I was very irate. June 1, 2010 I called to ask about the album status & a lady suggested I send an inquiry for a response in 2-3 days. I asked the hrs of the production studio & she mentioned "it varies". I said it had been almost a year (10 mos) & I needed to speak to a manager. I spoke to Melissa & she told me that it takes 16-20 wks after approval. I asked her where in my contract that it stated this 16-20 wks & she said she'd have to pull up my contract. I told her ok & she rudely told me that I would "just have to hold on because she was in the middle of doing something else". I was on hold for ~10 minutes then told that they sent address confirmation email on 5/24 (which I never received).

I then confirmed my address with her & she stated that my items would be shipped out on 6/2. I called back to 5 min. later to confirm the items in my package. Tracy answered, said Melissa was unavailable & one of them would get back to me. After an hr I called & Tracy who was "just about to call me" confirmed my items & said Melissa would get back to me. I asked Tracy for the name & # of Melissa's mgr, she mentioned that she was out of town. I then asked 2 more times for the name & # & she told me her name was Ilene & the # was the same: 1-800-BRIDAL6. After waiting an hour, no word from Melissa. June 2, 2010 I contacted the studio to see where in my contract it stated this 14-20 weeks, Melissa said it wasn't stated AT ALL. I asked for a refund which was denied. I asked for her mgr, she said Mary Richards (not Ilene)!

June 16 - finally talked to Mary, she said the only thing she could do was give me a free 8X10 photo, but that's after confirming the approval date with the production dept. I asked where in my contract that it says that it takes 16-20 (which she told me it takes 12-16 weeks) and she said that it says that and it also says they have a $10/week charge so "we don't want to go there". How can they charge me for my pictures that they are taking too long to send.

After reading the complaints about this studio, there are some people who after 3 years still don't have their photos because of the so called "storage fees" that the company charges to hold your pictures while they take their time making your album. This company is the biggest fraud in the WORLD!
