I am 62. I moved to Tempe in Feb. 2010 to help my daughter who is both a single Mom and ASU grad student. I flew here planning to stay only one semester. I began teaching at SRPMIC Head Start in May and decided to make my move permanent. I came without a car. I know from experience that I needed a dependable vehicle to commute to my job and one that would be under warranty because I am single and need the assurance and peace of mind that comes with a car under warranty. We received a mail promotion for a May Tent Sale at Midwway Chevrolet. I called first and was told "We want to put you in a new Cobalt." They did sell me a 2010 Cobalt and I added an extended warranty for the road service and other peace of mind extras. I loved the car. I drove it for a week. At the end of a week, I received a call from the branch manager that they had made a mistake and I needed to bring the car back. They had applied discounts to my purchase that they should not have applied. Could I come back ASAP. I explained that for me to drive across town at night on roads that I am not familiar with was not an easy option. I was told that if I did not return the car, which I had purchased, and been driving and had insurance on, that it would be repossessed. I had just begun my job and I was frightened and upset. I made the trip back after work and was given a 2009 replacement Cobalt which was not under warranty because it had over 38,000 miles on it. My car payments were the same and the total price was less, but I wanted a car under warranty. Since May I have put over $1000 into the car. A tire had to be replaced and I was told that it had so many plugs that it could not be plugged. I had a gas leak that cost me $700. After smelling gas and noticing that my tank was empy after one days driving, I brought it to my Midas repair and was told that there was gasoline all over the engine and the entire gas part had to be replaced. It was cracked. Today I pulled into my home and I smell something burning. I need help with this situation. Whoever heard of someone buying a car then being told to bring it back because they made a mistake? I think they took advantae of me and would not have done that to a man. Can you help me? I cannot afford anothe auto repair.
