Maytag/Whirlpool Complaint

Maytag - The Undependability People - Refrigerator

- NEW JERSEY
We are at the end of our rope. My mother, who is 88 years old, purchased a Maytag Refrig/Freezer from PC Richards in August 2006 and it has stopped working (defrosting her food) 4 times (Nov. 2006 - Thanksgiving weekend - Dec. 2006, June 2007 and Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007). My mom gets very upset each time this happens - looses food and we have to move all her food upstairs to my refrig - and her blood pressure goes through the roof.

I have called and written several times to Maytag/Whirlpool and requested that they replace this refrig. with a new one, since it appears this one is a lemon. Their most recent response to me was in July stating that since the refrigerator was presently repaired and working, they would not replace it. However, like clockwork, it stopped working again.

PLEASE, PLEASE - someone help us to get Maytag to actually be THE DEPENDABILITY PEOPLE and replace this refrigerator and reimburse my mom for the loss of food. Mom doesn't usually take the service contract, but in this case she did pay $190.86 for the contract because she was terrified it would break down again, which it DID. I think they should also refund her the price of this contract. All she wants is what she paid for - a new working refrigerator/freezer.

I am worried for her health with this situation because she is not well and this only adds to her stress.

I have written several letters and I have left messages Jessica Norris at the corporate office (866) 550-5136 x4238, but did not receive a return call. I also called Audrey Reed-Granger, Director of Public Relations at 269-923-7557, but no response. I also E:Mailed her.

PLEASE HELP!
Thank you.
