How excited I was in 2004 to be able to purchase my first maytag appliance. I bought a stainless steel bottom freezer style refrigerator. Only 2 yrs into the ownership sadly my maytag had a melt down while I was away.I came home to hundreds of dollars worth of frozen and refrigerated food items all over the floor. Maytag was called and after a service call which I waited long for I needed to wait for a compressor as well.
Now a year later to the month the refrigerator is hot and the unit is making a grinding sound all to familiar.Call placed to maytag,service man to arrive within the week. Meantime I put all my freezer items in the frigidaire(which I bought after the first melt down;and @ less than 1/2 the cost of my maytag) I suspect ill need another compressor,which will have to be ordered and another appointment set up. I would have never bought a whirlpool and now I am painfully aware that whirlpool has dragged maytag down with it! My plan is to donate the refridgerator after it is fixed and but another brand!!!!! And to be sure everyone I speak to will hear my story.
So if anyone wants to throw their money down the drain buy a maytag.
