I purchased a 1998 Audi A4 Quatro from the dealership on November 7 for $8012. The carfax report checked out, and the car drove fine on the test drive. I live in West Virginia and had no problems the first night driving home. The next day I was on interstate I-81 N heading towards Hagerstown, MD when the check engine light came on. I was near a Sears autocenter so I began to push the car toward Sears. I noticed a large amount of oil leaking out of the car and really didn't know why. When the mechanics looked at the car the original thought was a busted oil pan. After the continued to exam the car the estimated that a minimum of two quarts of oil leaked out in their garage and parking lot, still not accounting for the oil on the road.
The mechanic decided to check the oil level of the car and was surprised to see that it was still above the maximum limit after all of the oil that already leaked out. They started the car and found that due to the oil amount in the car being triple from the correct amount of oil that the pressure caused a rod to come out of the engine and inot the oil pan. The car now needs a new engine less than 24 hours after I purchased the car. When I purchased the car the salman told my girlfriend and I that the dealership just changed the oil that day.
When I called the dealership from Sears I was told that they change the oil in all of their cars and to call Hazem back at 9:30 in the morning. I called Hazem and he told me that he will check the records and for me to call back in 1 hour. I call him back and he tells me that they are not liable and they didn't change the oil period. I asked him who changed the oil then and he said he couldn't tell me.
