My 87 year old mom got a letter from John Hannock lnsurance compnay stating that they are terminating her 3200 a month long term care benefits. She paid 2000 a year premium for 25 years and as soon as they paid her back nine months of benefits, they said she was no longer qualified and sent a premium notice instead, which she paid. Her health is worst that when they originally approved her and she is not in good shape and she was trusting them that they would continue paying, but they changed their mind and are stating she doesn't need it. We asked for appeal and that consisted of them calling her and asking their questions to her over the phone and she states they asked if she would be willing to drop her son as power of attorney. They called me and said the appeal was denied and we haven't had time to send in the doctors letter yet. This is wrong and we went to the dept of insurance and they still did this. It is a joke what they get away with. Why would anyone buy long term care?
