This attorney was retained to represent me in a divorce proceeding. I paid her $3,500 as a retainer and the petition was filed. From the beginning, I had difficulty getting her to respond to calls or emails. The only work that I know she did was to attend a mediation session with me and file the petition, with a few phone conversations in between. After 5 months of little progress, and not one invoice showing billable time, I decided to change attorneys. I sent her a certified letter, which was accepted, notifying her of the change. For the last 5 weeks I have made numerous calls and emails, as well as an office visit, to try to get my file back so my new attorney could proceed and to regain what was left of my retainer, but have not received anything. I finally called the State Bar of Oregon and was told there were numerous complaints against this attorney and a couple of them were for not returning clients' remaining funds. I am in desperate need of my paperwork and money.
