Kissimmee Utility Authority Complaint

KUA IS IMPOSING DEPOSIT ON ALREADY ESTABLISHED ACCOUNTS - UTILITIES

- KISSIMMEE FLORIDA
Kissimmee Utility Authority is reviewing accounts and increasing the amount of deposit that people have to have in order to keep their utilities active. In these difficult times where people are losing their jobs, losing their houses and getting pay cut because of the recession, they are adding more burden to the families that are trying to stay afloat by meeting their basic needs, keep food on their tables and paying their bills.
I am just getting out of the worse economic situation we have ever been through. We made strict adjustments to our budgets to be able to stay on track. I just received my bill this month and to my surprise found an adjustment of $351.00, when I called KUA to ask them to fix what I thought was a mistake, I was told that my account was recently reviewed and because back on October 2010 a technician was sent to my house to disconnect my service (even though I called in and paid, so my service was not disconnected) my original deposit of $125, that I have in place since 2003, was increased another $351.00 for a total of $476.00 and the only reason I was given was that they need to increase it, (even though I have not been late since then), in case I move out and does not pay them.
I think this is an abusive policy of a company that has total dominion of an area. This is probably the worst recession we as a nation have ever been through. People are losing their homes, cars and jobs, and this policy is just kicking us more while we are down. I am sure that if there was another company that could provide the same service they would not do something like this to their customers.
I really hope that someone do something to stop this insensitive policy.
