Kaplan University Complaint

School Scams students out of money - Education

- District of Columbia - Fort Lauderdale, FL / online
Kaplan university has been scamming students out of money for years but in Jan 2008;I had a first hand encounter with their scam.I enrolled in the university June 2007 to pursue a B.S. degree. By sept 2007 I begin to have problems with my classes and had to sit for a term. After several months of chaos with my classes I decided to with draw from the school after receiving a call from financial aid stating that I had an over due balance. I was never informed in writing of this balance prior to this call on Jan 11 2008. I officially withdrew from this school verbally on this date. I was in dispute with the school from that point on about the balance. I made several phone calls and sent e-mail and received no feedback from the school in fact during one phone call the adviser hung up on me. I was contacted by another adviser 1 month later and he attempted to assist me. Within the series of months that balance has been inconsistent from person. In FEB 2008 I was contacted by a student success coach of the school who also attempted to assist me but in the end it cost me more money. I was told to log on by the success coach to the schools desktop. As a result I was charged money for that month. April 2008 I received an e-mail from the school stating that I owed them money but it was a different balance from my last quote. When I contacted the school I was told that it was my stupidity for logging on and I was charged but that the balance was different because the credited my account for March 2008. I withdrew from the school in Jan 2008
