Joe Cooper Ford-Shawnee Complaint

Joe Cooper Ford-Shawnee Stole my Title on Truck not even on Contract!

- Shawnee, OK
In Oct of 2007, I went to Joe Cooper Ford of Shawnee, to look at a jeep. Ron G. was the salesman. Although at first very cordial, he soon turned out to be the lying salesmen they all seem to be. I was first approved for a loan, but for the reason of 'they could not give us enough for the jeep' was sent back to the dealer for yet another loan co. with paperwork to sign. This time I qualified, but another 50.00 was added to my payment on the loan!

I went to see 'Mr personality plus' finance person (Jason G.). Who repeatedly make me feel like a moron on financing, when in fact, I am a Credit Manager myself. He said the New finance co. 'required' that they add 575.00 to the contract for Taxes, Title and Reg. I informed him I had never heard of such a bogus thing! That meant I would be paying another 575.00, plus interest for 7 yrs on the loan! I then told him before signing I wanted to contact the finance co myself as I had the money upfront. He gave me a surprised look and hum hawed then said well they might take it off the price of the jeep. I said do I look stupid, you control the pricing on the jeep, not them. He then said well, I will take it off right now then and then he added it back on the bottom of contract..so a washout.

He then proceeded to tell me I would get a check from the finance co, made out to myself and also OTC. to get my tags, etc. I then signed and left. I had traded in a 95 Aspire for $ 500.00 downpayment.

The next morning I called the finance co to verify what went on at the dealership, as I suspected they DID NOT require that the fees for licensing be added, but it fell on the dealership! To make things worse, they told me that they do not issue a check for these fees back to me. I then called Joe Cooper Ford back and ask for finance again. I was told Jason was out (good thing) and another finance person would 'help me'. This fella stated that they themselves would send me a check for the 575.00. At this point I am worried, as nothing seems to be said that isn't a lie.... I did receive the check a few days later.

Here is the nightmare...I also have a Chevy Silverado, oweing just 464.69, titled with GMAC in Oregon. In Oregon the lienholder holds title til paid for. I made my usual truck payment at the end of Oct. A week later I received a check back from them, with no explanation. I called and they said it was an overpayment on the truck, which I told them they had made a mistake. I ask who paid this truck off? They informed me that Joe Cooper Ford of Shawnee had on Nov. 2! They stated the title was also sent to them! I told them was fraud, I never traded this truck in and not anywhere on my contract did it state so. They got the information off my credit report and used it to get my truck payoff! I then called Ron G. at Joe Cooper Ford, he insisted there was some mistake..I said yes you can BET there is! He said that my jeep finance co again 'required' that they pay off my other vehicle. I again, made an unwriteable comment to him and ask why I was never informed of this, at any time and if so, why didn't GMAC send the title to me instead of Joe Cooper Ford! After all, I am the one who had been making payments 7 yrs on it, with over 16,000.00 invested! He had no answer but 'would definitely get back to me' as he couldn't even find the title!

I then contacted the jeep finance co. only to find out , as I suspected, they never required anything as far as payoff on my other truck! They said they looked over the contract and noted I had traded in a 95 aspire car for 500.00 and that was all they needed.

They used information off of my credit report to benefit themselves and got caught by me. If I had not received my payment from GMAC in the mail I would have never known of this Title fraud until I got the truck paid off and patiently waited for the title to come from GMAC. They are truly a lowdown co to deal with and I will be voicing this elsewhere also!!

I have been a finance Manager for 10 years. After reading this I'm just floored! Not by the dealer but by the consumer and the website that alowed this to be put up. The consumer in this case had more then one open auto loan and did not have the best of credit. bad credit open autos = no new auto loan. The dealer has no benifit from paying off an extra auto or paying TT

My experience with Joe Cooper of Shawnee was just the opposite. I have bought two cars from them (2006 Fusion and 2010 Fusion) and I will not buy from anyone else.
