J.K. Harris and Associates Complaint

Beware of IRS "FIXIT" Companies

After letting my tax situation get to a critical point I heard about a company that would assist you in settling with the IRS. This company is J.K. Harris and Associates. My wife and I visited the Harris location in San Jose, California and met with one of their consulors who informed us that for a fee the J.K. Harris Company would arrange to have all leins, foreclosures and garnishments stopped and would negotiate with the IRS to settle all of our disputes.

We signed the contract and agreed to pay the $2700.00 fee. Later we find out that the contract is sold to a finance company for 24% interest which of course we must pay monthly.

About three weeks later we get an "Intent to Levy" letter from the IRS and we mcall our contact at the Harris company and she promises us that she will take care of it. Two weeks later the IRS levys our bank accounts. Harris has done nothing for us. We call the IRS and arrange for the levy to be removed. One month later the IRS notifies us of "Intent TO Garnish Wages". We again call our contact and let her know whats happening and again she says don't worry, we will take care of it. Two weeks later, our wages are garnished. Again, we have to go in to the IRS offices and take care of the matter ourselves.

I called our contact at J.K. Harris and told her that until I had some type of positive response from them I was stopping payments for their services and her response was that if I stopped the payments she would guarentee that J.K. Harris and Associates would do nothing for me. Stalemate...

I have done some investigating on the J.K. Harris company recently and what I'm finding is not encourageing.. There is a complaint list on the internet that lists complaints against this company but nothing has been done to solve any of them.. Better Business bureaus in South Carolina and Kansas have hundreds of complaints against the company yet the company still operates and advertises their services in all areas of the media.

Although my IRS problems were solved by negotiations with IRS personnel and all at no cost I am still out the fee to J.K. Harris and Company and suffer the embarrasement of being totally taken in by their con artist tactics...

Can any lawyer take these cases as a class action case against JK Harris?
