As a Notary Public I Notarized a grant deed for this woman giving the property to her ex husband on the promise he would give her the kids. Once she granted him the house he did not give her the kids so she hired an attorney. In the process of digging through court records this attorney sees the grant deed was returned to the husband by the court for wrong name. The records also showed this same grant deed had been corrected and then filed with the court. In questioning the husband he pointed a finger at me saying he brought the grant deed back to me and I fixed it which I did not do. This attorney and the woman sues me for fraud. I hired an attorney but had to let him go because I couldn't pay him. That's why I found myself in court going up against this woman and her attorney. There was no evidence that I fixed the grant deed it clearly was not my handwriting but I didn't calendar a couple of court dates so I missed them. This attorney asked the judge to award him $1,000 from me for his extra work for my missing those dates. My only income is social security at $762.00 per month. He was awarded the $1,000that I will pay in three payments that leaves me not enough to pay my rent, but obviously no one cares. This attorney is now trying to prove I was negligent when I attached an all purpose aknowledgent to the original grant deed saying if I had not attached that then the husband could not have filed the corrected grant deed and ultimately would not have been allowed to sell the house. After I pay off this debt to the attorney, I still have three more court dates and the saddest part is the way it's going now he may just be able to convince the judge that I was negligent which I wasn't. I broke no Notary Public laws nor rules by attaching the al purpose aknowledgemnt. I have been a Notary Public since 1995. It has been my livelyhood. if I'm convicted of negligence I won't be able to continue to practice my profession. I'm a 66 year old female and I can't do anything else. I barely make it on $762.00 per month. The reason I havn't renewed my Notary commission is because of this lawsuit hanging over my head I'm too depressed that I can't think about anything else. It just seems so unfair that this attorney can drag me into that womans case knowing full well I did nothing wrong. He is taking advantage of me at every turn that he can. He catches me in the hallways of the court house and asks me question so he will know what his next move on me is. I want the public to know my story and maybe just maybe someone will care. Thank you
