AAMCO Transmission Complaint

How you can scam a single mom....... - Transmission Service

- Lewisville, TX
I brought my car into AAMCO and received a quote from Derrick (owner's son) for $2400.00 for a transmission rebuild. The work was completed on Saturday, September 4,2009 and a payment arrangement was established between myself and AAMCO. A payment for 50% of the total amount due was made on this date with a signed promissory note stating the remaining balance would be paid within 60 days (contract date November 1, 2009). Please make note payment was received on Saturday, October 31st. My end of the contract was fulfilled per our agreement.

I immediately noticed the shifting was off put a call into Derrick. I brought the car back in for inspection. A check was preformed and I was told kinks were being worked out and there was no issue.

I have since brought the car in three additional times for analysis, as the transmission has been having several issues. One issue was severe overheating due to my car being returned to me with NO coolant, this as you know could have caused catastrophic damage to my engine. Derrick had coolant delivered and sent me on my way. This is not to mention the appointments I made, where a AAMCO representative was a no-show. One appointment was made directly with the owner on Saturday, October 24th @ 11:00 A.M. I arrived, as scheduled, and the shop was closed, although an appointment was made and the hours listed on your web-site and door detail different. I contacted Derrick and he advised me the owner had to leave for a meeting and apologized that I was not given a call and made the trip. This same situation took place two days later when I arrived for the rescheduled appointment only to find the shop closed and the same excuse of off site meeting's was given.

I brought the car in again on Saturday, October 31st (10:00 A.M. appointment) and was advised by Derrick the mechanic had not arrived due to his cars being towed and would not be able to look at my vehicle that day. By this point I am OUTRAGED by the lack of professionalism of the staff and service of this company as a whole. Derrick attempted to look at the vehicle while advising me over and over that he was not "Mechanically Knowledgeable". He said it looks as if my transmission had been contaminated and advised me against driving it for the weekend until brought in again on Monday, November 2nd for inspection. An inspection was done on Monday, November 2nd and I was advised AGAIN there was no issue and it had not been contaminated.

My car is currently sitting at AAMCO and has been since Wednesday, November 4th, 2009 @ 8:00 A.M. awaiting another rebuild as the hard shifting presented it's self last again. This was the ORIGINAL reason the car was brought into AAMCO. Needless to say, 60 days and 2400.00 dollars later my car is running the EXACT same as the first day I brought it in for diagnostics. I dropped by car off Wednesday, November 4th and advised Derrick I would call mid-day to check status. I called at noon and was advised "My dad the owner did not pay the electric bill so we can't work on it right now". I spoke to Derrick on Friday morning and he advised me my car would be ready on Monday and that he would call me back Friday afternoon to give me details, I received no call.

I called Derrick this morning Monday, November 9th @ 8:00 A.M. to see what time my car would be available for pick-up. He said it had only been broken down, they have still yet to locate the problem or order parts. He advised me I was NOT priority b/c they had a heavy work load and he would get my car back to me when it was done and would not provide me with a firm date nor time. I am a single mother and have been without my vehicle for 6 days now with no date in sight of when it will be repaired.

I have made NUMEROUS attempts to request a call from the owner and have put several calls into corporate with no response. This has been the worst automotive experience of my life and I will tell everyone I run across about the terrible work and service I received from AAMCO.

Thanks,
Annette Morgan
