I am a senior lady living alone and have been under a lot of stress losing my father my aunt I found my son dead in his apartment and my ex husband all died recently all in a six month period. Then I found that I had no hot water so I looked in the phone book and called Tri-City plumbing in Milford ct. The man came down and told me the pilot light switch was no good and I was relieved that it wasn't going to cost me that much. I had been without hot water for five days and really needed a shower. Then he told me that my water heater was old and could burst at any moment and that he said I should have him put a new one in before it bursts and my cellar would be flooded. I got scared and told him to do it. He charged me $1704.05.I didn't know how much they cost so I signed the paper and he put it in. It took him about an hour and I finally had my shower. When I told people about it they all told me that I was way overcharged and that he scarred me into getting a new water heater which I didn't need at that time. The bill is more than I make in a month. It was a 40 gallon tank and my friend looked the model of the tank up on the computer and it costs $415.00 same name an model. I want to pay them the work was good but does a plummer get $1300.00 an hour. I had to pay for my sons whole funeral and am living on a budget like most people and I just want to pay what is a fair price. please help me thankyou very much. I am an honest law abiding person who pays her bills and obeys the law and I don't think people should be taken advantage of.
