Honda Dealer Denied Warranty - Warranty

I took my vehicle in to Honda of Tysons Corner in 12/09 for a check engine light. My vehicle is covered under warranty for check engine light related problems provided they are emissions related. Upon diagnosis of the problem I was told it was the IACV and it was not covered under warranty and would be over $600 for repairs. I asked them are you sure it is not under warranty and they said it was not and charged me a service fee.

I found a private mechanic who got the part and installed it for $85 and the car now works fine. On or around 4/05/10 I found a service bulletin as well as a warranty letter which showed the list of parts that were covered under the warranty and the IACV was listed. I called 2 other dealers and they verified it was covered.

I called Honda of tysons corner, they provided me with a refund of the service fee but did not apologize nor were they willing to reimburse me for the out of pocket expense which was only $85 for something that should have been covered under warranty by them.

End result my warranty was not honored, I was lied too and had to pay out of pocket, had I not found the service bulletin and called in they would have kept the money I paid for the service fee.
