I am a Resident of the United States of America and a frequent visitor of Bangladesh. Last year I purchased a Honda City from your authorized dealer in Bangladesh, DHS Motors. There are many manufacturers of cars in Bangladesh as well as in the other countries, however I have or should I say, had a liking for Honda. In the USA I have been driving Honda for the last twelve years, so are many of my friends, I was satisfied with its quality and its after purchase sales service. This wonderful memory with Honda USA drove me towards the Honda dealer in Bangladesh (DHS Motors) to purchase a brand new Honda City with cash, here I must emphasize the point is that in Bangladesh overwhelming majority of the population purchase Toyota and Nissan, unfortunately Honda does not have a good market. Even under these circumstances and knowing the fact that Honda in Bangladesh does not have a good resale value, we purchased the Honda City; I think it adequately portrays my loyalty towards Honda. With utter sadness and disappointment I have to tell you that my experience with Honda in Bangladesh was nothing but a total horror to say the least.
I went to the Honda Dealer in Bangladesh, DHS motors, along with my parents, we picked the car, we paid the money and then once we took possession of the car the sales person Mr. Matin told us that once in a while if we see that the Motor Oil level in the car has increased beyond its normal level, bring in the car and the DHS Motors will adjust it for you. We were surprised, we asked him why didnt he mention this before, his answer was then I wont be able to sell cars, and the key person from the Engineering Mr. Raj Kumar stated that the Management does not inform us when they bring defective product. Is this the way a Global company, a reputable company which stands for excellence conducts its business, I firmly believe it is not the case, I am quite sure that Corporate Honda is not aware of this unethical and unlawful business practice by its dealer in Bangladesh, however as the Honda brand name is at stake, it is imperative that Corporate Honda takes proactive measures to get to the bottom of this problem. Let me now get into the crux of the issue, which is causing mental distress to our family.
To this day we had to change the Motor Oil every 200KM or less, in some cases the level increased by several notch in a matter of days, this is no way we can continue to drive a brand new car and when the car is a Honda, it is supposed to stand out as a product of excellence. I went to DHS Motors numerous times, my parents have written them letters, but all this effort went in vain. At this point I am so mad at the situation that it is reminding of the situation at Mitsubishi Motors, when some executives intentionally concealed their vehicle problems and misled the customers, it also reminds of Firestone tires, these two companies are at the brink of disaster in the US market because some of their employees or agents representing the companies were not honest with the customers. I certainly hope that this is not going to be case for Honda corporation, I have read the memoir of Honorable Mr. Honda, how he valued his customers, how he wanted to stay small and refused to sell out to the bigger players of that time. Today his name represents quality, not bad memories. A small but the only Honda dealer in Bangladesh should not be given the chance to tarnish the great image of Mr. Honda and thousands of workers who are working day and night to keep its name at the top of the list.
I will be in Bangladesh another three weeks; I would like Corporate Honda to take drastic measures to fix this problem for me and for all the affected customers. The issue must not drag on any longer; if the issue is not resolved I will be compelled to publish this incident in the Bangladesh newspapers and contact the US media to do its own investigation on Hondas quality control in the overseas market especially in Bangladesh. One must address the issue and do the due diligence to find out the root cause of the problem, one of my concerns is that whether the Bangladesh dealer brought defective cars and sold those cars to us for bigger profit margin. I am confident that the corporate Honda will take this matter seriously and will take swift action for an amicable solution. If you need to reach me during the next three weeks, please call my Bangladesh mobile number or send me e-mail.
