In 2006 I purchased a double wide and land from Mr. Greer, owner of Hillview Family care in NC. He received a down payment and several monthly payments. A contract was supposed to be drawn up to make the transaction legal for us both. No contract was ever forthcoming. A couple months later I found Mr. Greer laughing. he stated he guessed I knew the property had no deeded right of way. I stated I did not. Next I discovered the primary water supply on the property had been dry since 1986 and I could not keep a working water heater. after burning up the water heater 3 times, replacing it in the beginning, I gave up. My daughter and I lost our jobs in 2009 becuse of the fact we could not keep a heater operating. After losing my job I went to pay Mr. Greer a payment and he refused to take it. next he tried to illegally evict us and currently I will be in court February 18, because he is suing me trying to make me move. I am out 34,000 dollars, my job, my daughters out of hers, and we have been told this stunt is barely on the edge of legality.
Mr. Greer has handled 20 or more real estate deals so he knew exactly what he was up to. I have spent a lot of money to fix up the home since when I moved here it would not even pass a building inspection. Wall recepticals short out setting the walls on fire and I've replaced quite a few of them. Legal Aid refuses to help me saying he will Win and I will just be out a lot of money and homeless to boot. I cannot afford an attorney. any help from you would be appreciated.
