Hi.
There is an e-mail going around that is for a business called Hollywood Profiles. Their website is Hollywoodprofiles.com. With a very low starting fee of $1.95, you can supposedly get access to all kinds of postings for jobs in your area having to do with talent. These jobs include acting, modeling, singing, etc. Well, in a moment of weakness, I actually paid them the $1.95 and immediately regretted it. Quickly searching for a way to undo what I had just done, I looked at their Terms and Conditions page. Well, I find out on this page that the $1.95 is only for a two week trial period, and that afterwards, if I don't unsubscribe, they will continue to bill my credit care $49.95 a month. I thought that this was very sneaky, but figured that since I was going to immediately unsubscribe, that this fate would not befall me. They said that to cancel my subscription with them, I needed to either call their number or send them a letter stating that I want to unsubscribe. Well, I called the number, and all I heard was annoying music for a good 10 minutes. Giving up and already concluding that this is a BIG SCAM, I went to option B and wrote a letter and mailed it to the address they gave me:
Hollywood Profiles
8721 Santa Monica Blvd #1057
W. Hollywood CA 90069
Well, hoping that this would take care of it, the letter I sent was returned to me a week later stating clearly on it that this place simply does not exist. Now I am totally convinced that this place is a HUGE SCAM.
For some reason, I continued on with my life for another couple months without thinking much of it anymore. I thought perhaps they just wanted the $1.95 from everyone and , because they knew they were scam, would not press for any more money. Oh how wrong I was. Today, I looked at my inter-net banking account and saw that there were two debits of $49.95 taken from my account by this totally illegitimate business. They have taken almost $100 from me. I am so mad right now, I'm literally fuming. Well, they have another address that they apparently operate from. This one is in Humble, TX, a suburb of Houston. Here is their address:
5715 Will Clayton Pkwy #5273, Humble, TX 77338
I have since looked up this company and have found that numerous people have fallen for the same scam, and that no matter how many times they have tried, they cannot get them to stop charging their credit/debit cards. The only thing that has so far worked is totally chopping the card up and getting a new one with a new number from their bank or credit union. I am going to the bank tomorrow to do the same thing. These people that complained also said that they have even talked to these people on the phone and asked them to unsubscribe them and cease charging them money only to find that they charged them even more soon after. Sometimes, the people on the phone have even hung up on these poor people...probably just so they don't have to answer any implicating questions. This is a cruel and sinister business, and it MUST be stopped. It's add claims that it gives 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed. They give 0% Satisfaction Guaranteed. It's more like they give 100% Robbery Guaranteed.
Here are a few sites that people have complained about this company on:
