I bought a new Volkswagen Beetle Convertible right off the show room floor in April of 2006 and last year I took it in to be looked at because there is four places on the top that are worn. They told me it was because I wasent using my boot to cover it when the top was down, and I told them I always use my boot. I made sure it came with one. Well that made me very mad so I took it in to two different apolstrey shops and they told me that the only thing that the doot protects is from fadding. They said that it looks like there is not enough padding to protect the top rom the frame. Well I have had the car in the shop several times 6 times that I know of for leaks I know they had to remove the top several times to find the leak. I have had this car in the shop so much that I think they have had it more than I have. I took it in last month and they said that all the padding that is suppose to be there is there.
and that they would replace the top for $1,500.00. I just can not believe that the top would wear so bad in just 3 years. I waited 2 weeks after I brought the car in before I finally got a hold of the service manager. They never call back and now they are telling me that I will have to pay. The apolstrey people said they can give me a new top for $1800.00 with a 5 year warranty. and Bert Smith chargeing me 1500.00 with a year warranty. That sucks. I believe they should replace my top at no charge. Or build abetter car. With all the history this car has had in the shop I think it is there falt that the top has 4 holes in it. I have all the maintenance records of all that they have done. Please help me if you can. I'm paying good money for this car and I believe I got a big lemon.
