I am a hardworking single parent trying to keep up on bills, two days ago I was surprised with a $607. 00 electric bill and it has been cold in house. Called Fred to tell him it was cold and somethings not right after he had worked on my unit for AC in July! I have receipt saying I had to pay in full by August 30th or he will take my outside unit as payment in full! I paid him in time, needless to say I was out of work two months before due to surgery and no income for few weeks cause unexpected surgery. I know nothing about heat or air and how it works. never felt cool in all rooms and thought was just different vents needed to be shut to circulate air properly, so my room was always warmer and put in window unit just to feel cooler cause my room stayed hottest. needless to say colder times have approached and need warmth. Switched my thermostat to heat and nothing, House staying cold and so I called Fred. He says, I told your son you have to open up the heater and switch a wire. If he would have told me that, I would have never paid him. I was under impression that it was fixed properly. I don't know any better so, He says its very simple just remove one color and put white. So I just did it to try and get instant heat. Now feel little warmth out of vents but house still stays cold, he states due to medical, hes not working anymore. He won't help me. Call someone in to look at it and he says, no wonder your electric bill so high! your running off pure electric heat and thats emergency heat. which does not blow through vents. He told me I should call Lennox, he don't wanna touch it cause he don't know what the hecht he did and told me that he left me with a fire hazzard also. I had no Idea he did not fix it properly until tried to turn on heat but now can't get it fixed which I cannot afford especially cause of this bill now. I am sitting here with no heat, wires exposed in heater unit (fire hazzard), I have been screwed. went to catholic social services and they say they can't help financially cause they don't have the funds. Went to apply for crisis for Liheap under crisis situation and they asked for my oldest sons pay from three months ago and he isn't even employed anymore, then told me that I have to make less then $2700.00 in a month or cannot help! Well I work as ultrasound technicin at hospital helping people everyday, and when I need help, nope, won't help, make too much money. If I didn't make what I make, I can afford daycare, car, gas, bills, and so on....then bucks county opportunity said they tried to call peco and they won't even talk to me, that I have to call their legal department because of PFA (protection from Abuse order) from 2009 when went through bad divorce. I placed multiple calls to legal department of Peco and no return phone calls. All I was trying to find was either help for bill or to fix my unit so I can have heat. Since my divorce I was left behind on bills, played catch up, lost 400.00 income for support for my oldest cause he turned 18, so took a lot of overtime and caught up, then peco increases, gas increases and my pay didn't, lol, and then I go out for unexpected surgery and lost few weeks of income, then played catchup again, then hospital took away any overtime opportunities, then thats when my air broke which led to this whole situation. Fred claims his only job was to get the air working! I payed him not knowing any better cause he never told me I would have to switch wires, I assumed he fixed it properly. Now as I was explained yesterday by the hv/ac tech that don't wanna touch it cause he don't know what Fred did. He said that he can't figure out what he did and don't wanna work on it so that fred can say that someone else touched it after him and also that fred had left me with a fire hazzard. but now ultimately, I am here with a non working unit with a fire hazzard in it, no heat, an extremely high energy bill and no one will call back from legal department at peco. Noone will help, I am pretty much screwed. This government is not for the people, they all want us to be poor, its a conspiracy, I will help you if you sit at home on your ass but if you are hard working and just trying to survive, they won't even look at you twice. Actually I felt like they looked at me like, "how could you let this happen" ! Are you serious???? How screwed up is everyones concepts! Why should I work? Now I see why everyone will do whatever they can to get over on the government and why people say, "why should I work?" You work to pay daycare, car payment so that I can drive to work, a mortgage just to have roof over head. I have nothing luxury, my car I can't even fix my breaks, and now this...... What am I to do? The government has no problem shutting the door on me and my three children 18, 8 and 4. We r in the cold and no one will help! What has this world came too? everything goes by gross income which I don't bring home. A third of my check I don't see goes to taxes. How does this really look for the government? you can't help a single mother one time or at least fix heater? Wont leave kids out in cold, lol, what a joke!! Please help, I need justice, this is obsurd!!! No wonder there is no middle class.
