Please help. On Wednesday night a young canvasser entered our building Manhattan Plaza on West 42nd st. under false pretenses, we do not allow any kind of solicitation and most politicians running for office know that they can meet and greet outside. Anyway the young woman was allowed under the false pretense that she was visiting obviously a constituent of the mayors, so she was allowed in, she then proceeded to go door to door. I never expect anyone to knock on my door unless announced. So it was unexpected when this young lady knocked on my door and my 4lb. little dog that becomes a lion when someone knocks unless she of course expects someone(She understands 2 rings on the phone from the concierge means company)and only then calmly waits by the door. This particular night when the canvasser just knocked she flew off the bed down her stairs and ripped her kneecap. Now she needs surgery and the bill as you may well imagine will be astronomical. Seeing as I now am out of a job due to the economy I asked the campaign office for help with the bill or that the mayors office ask for pro bono help from the Orthopedic surgeon at the Animal Medical Center where my daughter and I spent the night they declined. They know not to send anyone into this building and because of this my dog may never be the same again because the doctors can't promise recovery from sedation AND that she may not recover full use of her leg, because of her size. My dog is like my child and the office just called it an unfortunate accident but No we can't help. What if it involved a child because a parent had to answer the unexpected knock, would they also decline to help. I am so angry, and I want the mayor to respond to me, or get a doctor to help me. I'm not asking for money or suing, I just want the campaign to take responsibility for their actions. I intend to make the rounds with this because I need to. Thank you, Millie Tirelli
