Columbia Auto Services Complaint

Hard Woriking People Getting Ripped Off By Auto Repair Shops

- 1160 WESTMINISTER ST, PROVIDENCE RI 02909
Mu husband and I went to Providence to get a BCI check report for a new job. Truck didn't start, called a tow company, $40. 00 told us it was the starter, took cab to get one at Auto Parts on Carpenter St, put in didn't work, $40.00 for nothing. Friend came up from Woonsocket where we reside. New battery worked until we went to drop old starter at Auto Parts, same thing, gave us a name Columbia Auto Services close by. Towed there, guys name was Steve he gave us. Looked at car told us needed new starter, other burnt out, told us, this was on Saturday, ready for Monday, $200.00 to fix. Called me told me $225.00 more. Told him didn't have that much, said bring what we have. All together paid $200.00. Said it was done. Got back to Woonsocket, went to Family Dollar, Social St, to pick up a few things, wwent to start truck up, exact same problem, "not fixed" had to leave there, called police dept told us alright to keep there overnight, told us to file a civil suit, truck still there, husband got ride to work on his first day on a new job. 6th District Court in Providence told me we had to get a lawyer. Altogether spent so far in Providence, $500.00. My husband called Columbia Auto Services back told him it was running good there to have it towed back to there place in Providence! Talked with a person that works at AJ'S on Social St, in Woonsocket, down the street from where we lived, had his car fixed up there also, told him it would cost $200.00 dollars, then claimed more work on car, he new there wasn't they changed there tune real quick. He knows a lot about cars. Use to live across st., from them yrs ago. He thought they were pretty reasonable at that time, but found out quickly they weren't he told us there's people working there without licences for auto mechanics. Hard working people getting ripped off by people like that. Now we have to spend more money on truck getting towed to another auto repair shop. There should be some way for people like us to protect ourselves from people like that and not have to get lawyers and spend money we don't have. They should have to be accountable. Now my husband has to find another way to get to work or he loses his job, and we're going to lose our apartment, and I am disabled I have a heart condition, had stroke, heart attack, congestive heart failure, and we don't know what we're going to do, if there's unlicensed mechanics there it should be investigated, and they should tow it back at there expense, and be held liable for it! We have receipt of payment. If anyone has any suggestions or someone who can help us with this situation please contact us, we really need help.
