Hired Green Van Lines of Dallas to move furniture from Boston to Conroe, TX.
They came with no tools - used sister's knives from butcher block. Realtor (authorized agent) was asked for tools. She was afraid of the men. They trashed my house-left debris everywhere- ruined knives on basement floor.
Complained about knives...I got a phone call from someone yelling at me that this was not possible and what was I talking about...then a sacastic and threatening "Have a nice DAY Miss...." I did not tell anyone because I felt like if I complained more my furniture would get trashed.
Delivery- besides the "normal?" they did not know where they were going and did not come when they said they would...when they DID arrive, they wanted cash to deliver -My authorized agent left to get them money. She returned to find one pick up truck on my property with my furniture in it and one truck outside the gate. When she yelled "what the heck.." the truck (which had been up at my house) came back down and the Green Van Lines driver paid him. The two trucks sped off. My friend and another friend she had brought unloaded what they could find of my belongings. The driver had shown up at 7pm so they had to try to find my things by shining headlights into the trailer. My belongings looks like they were vandalize...beheaded, smashed, and thrown....I have all photos on photobucket. Further I am missing antique carpet, new carpet, and 3 suitcases. I cried for the entire weekend...I have not moved anything hoping I can get someone to see this. I filed a complaint with the dallas BBB. I received a threatening phone call from the owner of the company after filing the complaint. They had denied picking up the carpet and other items (yet I have all documentation and confirmed by them.) I have appx 80 emails documenting this move. I have requested copies of signed papers with my belongings, Bill of lading, information as to where my belongings were kept...They will not reply. I have misdelivered items..they have no contract with anyone in Houston to properly come to collect these other belongings...(tools of trade in one! - mabe a carpenter.) I have notified the DMV who is now investigating. I am tracking down their insurance company (they use some arbitrator in Port St. Lucie, Fl.) So far I have gone from Lloyds in Chicago to Decus in the UK. The DMV is supposed to see them this week for violations including paperwork, signage on the trailers and whatever else. I have contacted the DOT and FMC. Apparently these companies fall thru the cracks in interstate. I chose a company that was registered with the FMC and DOT and was insured (questionable and being investigated! at the time of pick up) and had a b+ rating with the BBB and now I am out 20K of furniture and belongings as well as more than 6K for the move. If this happened to my mother she would have had a heart attack. I believe more people do not complain because of threats and because there is NO ONE to turn to! It is not the "state" nor the "federal" level when it comes to interstate moves. This is one area where the consumer NEEDS BUT DOES NOT HAVE PROTECTION. SEVERE BINDING REGULATION with real penalties are needed! Currently I spend two or more hours per day trying to get someone who will help me. My home owners does not know what to do. Montgomery county sheriff said to try "normal" procedures which I have exhausted. So now now I am turning to you. I need help and others must be warned. There needs to be legislation specifically for these moving companies -
Please can you suggest where I can go or can you help?
