I am a homeowner on Hollywood Blvd. For some time the City of Los Angeles has been entertaining a development company and it looks like they are pressing forward with cramming 40 three story ‘single family’ homes with roof top decks on to a small lot across from the row of historical homes located on Hollywood Blvd.
The City is using a badly written ordinance as a loophole and they are allowing this developer to build these 40 units 8 inches apart, with NO LANDSCAPING, NO SET-BACK FROM THE STREET, NO GUEST PARKING and NO SECURITY measures for the those who currently reside in this quiet enclave.
My home and the home next to me were both owned by the late Carol Lombard. Many of the residents on this block have spent many years bringing these old homes back. Many of these residents are almost as old as these homes (clearly kidding, but close). This density of this project alone far exceeds anything else in the area. This will not only increase noise but pollution, safety and security concerns for our residents. The city is allowing a greedy developer to press forward with plans despite current neighbor and homeowner objections. The neighbors including a woman in her 90’s have been to meeting after meeting and still the City wishes to allow this to happen to our neighborhood.
I am asking for your help in this. If this is outside your area of advocacy could you point me to someone who could help? We need advocacy and we need voices of people who care for others quality of life. We need the press to cover this as our voices are being drowned out by the lure of money for the city at the expense of others.
The developer is conducting an open house to 'hear' concerns from neighbors as a gesture. Meeting after meeting has proven that this is only a gesture and that the City of Los Angeles is going to green light this greedy, inconsiderate and irresponsible venture.
