We have been loyal GM customers. We've owned GM cars from Cadillacs, Pontiacs, Chevys, Buicks and GMC. These brands served us well over the years. Until now. It is sad that the American auto industry is willing to cut costs by not honoring warranties. We bought a warrantied item for our GMC in March of 2010. We routinely maintain our car and had it in for an oil change and complete auto inspection last month. Everything checked out fine, except for an oil leak (which we had repaired earlier in the year as well and promptly took to the place we got that repaired for further checking). This month, a part we had replaced in March stopped working. It is currently under warranty. We took it into the dealer. They have a $109 diagnostic fee, even though its under warranty, just in case it is something else. Well, low and behold, all of a sudden there is a problem with the shocks that didn't exist when we brought it in a couple of weeks ago. ANd, they require us to repair that BEFORE they replace the other part, at a hefty cost of $1200.00. When telling them we can't afford the $1200 right now, they tell us we can take it somewhere else but will not even give us the warrantied PART for us to put in once that repair is fixed. The kicker. There are only 700 miles left before the warranty runs out. If we go over that, they won't honor the warranty. They WON'T allow us to take the part ourselves to put in whens we will be able to afford fixing the $1200 fix. I am very disappointed with GM and if this is reflective of the 'new GM' I don't and won't have anything more to do with them. I will never purchase another GM product in my lifetime. Once my GM hit the 100,000 mile mark, everything started failing all at once. That has never happened with any Toyota or Nissan I have ever owned. I put over 300,000 miles on our Toyota and 200,000 with our Nissan and never had any where NEAR as many repairs as this GMC. Now, them not warranting their products unless I spend another $1200 upfront is the last straw. I have receipts for all my maintenance and repair over the years.
