GMC Complaint

Moldy Auto Airconditioner

- LAS CRUCES, NEW MEXICO
In 2003 we purchased a brand new GMC Envoy, We love the vehicle but after having it a short while we noticed an awful odor especially if it is warm outside which is often here. we could not figure it out but it continually worsened, we finally could not take it any more and took it to the dealership in January 2006. They hooked it up to an ozoium machine and it seemed to take the smell away
then several months later the smell returned again and continually worsened again. in October we returned it to the dealership again, this time they said they found BACTERIA BUILD-UP (MOLD) on the evaporator which was causing the odor This time they added some kind of coating on the coil and an air sanitizer. This quick fix lasted even a shorter time so in December 2006 we once again returned it to the dealership, this time another quick fix they put some kind of blower on to keep it dry.

This to lasted only a short while and in May 2007 we again returned it to the dealership this time they cleaned out the vent with an odor eliminator, this cleaning lasted just a short while and this time we contacted GMC customer service and spoke with represenitive Mary Ann she worked with us and the dealership they decided to replace the evaporator and disinfected the A/C and heater vents and the ducting, this was on June 26, 2007.

Now it is September and the smell is back again. This last week we returned to the dealership and reported to them that the smell was back, then we phoned Mary Ann Johnson at GMC customer support she informed us that she was being transfered but she would call the service manager at the dealership. We never heard back from her but upon returning to the dealership Darryl the service manager informed us that we could just bring the vehicle in every couple months and they would ozone it. This is not acceptable to us but we do not know where to turn to, he also said maybe we should just trade ours in on a 2008.

Well this is not an option, we paid this vehicle off in one year and it has relatively low mileage and this February my husband became disabled after having two massive heart attacks and is now on Social Security. We can not afford to start all over with another 300.00 to 400.00 a month payment.

We contacted GMC one more time on September 6 2007 and spoke with another rep but she informed us that she too was being transfered and she'd have someone else contact us and we have not heard a word. Please Help,Mold can make you very sick and my husband has already endured enough this year. besides not being able to enjoy the vehicle we purchased and paid a lot of money for.

Thank you

Barbara
