A GE Repair person came to my home to repair/replace a brand new dishwasher that didn't work as soon as it was installed.
The Technician forgot to shut the water before disconnecting the water and flooded our home doing almost $100,000.00 worth of damage.
I HAVE A LETTER UNDER SEAL FROM THE STATE OF MARYLAND STATING THAT GE DOESN'T HOLD A MHIC LICENSE.
A MHIC LICENSE IS REQUIRED IN THE STATE OF MARYLAND TO to replace/connect/disconnect dishwashers (even to existing plumbing lines)in that state under Maryland law. I have a copy of the law downloaded from their site!!!
SEE MHIC laws and regulation:

(2) “Home improvement” includes:
(i) construction, improvement, or replacement, on land adjacent to the building, of a driveway, fall-out shelter, fence, garage, landscaping, porch, or swimming pool;
*** >>>(ii) connection, installation, or replacement, in the building or structure, of a dishwasher, disposal, or refrigerator with an icemaker to existing exposed household plumbing lines;
The technician gave me a receipt which stated he flooded my home and I had to insist that we both call the main office of GE to report the incident.
GE's insurance company wrote me a letter which stated they accepted liability.
Then they disappeared for approximately days after it was reported to them by an Industrial Hygienist that there was Toxic Mold in our house, and we couldn't get in touch with anyone to help us. We then had to hire a lawyer.
Now they won't pay for the entire build back. They have made low, unacceptable offers that don't cover this serious damage. They also stopped paying for our hotel and forced us to seek assistance from our limited homeowners insurance.
I even offered for them to handle the build back themselves, but they refused.
We have been living in a hotel for more than 3 months, our home is absolutely ruined & unlivable. We will have nowhere to go in three weeks.
I have researched & documented hundreds of reports of complaints about leaking GE dishwashers.
We are happy to hear from others that have had similar problems.
