Free Gas U. S.A. Inc. has a website on the internet and claims to be a faith based charity. Somehow other charitable organizations have links to Free Gas and that is how I picked it up. Ostensibly it is a charitable organization which will provide free gas grants to those who are income eligible. There is an application and one of the requirements is a letter from another charity or state welfare organization attesting to car ownership, driver's license and income. The last requirement is for a certified check of $3.00.
I submitted the application, included the required letter but deliberately did not send a check. Several weeks later I received a post card stating that my grant was not approved because the processing fee was not included.
The card stated that "we pray you will submit an application in the future once you have met the requirements. God Bless you" I resubmitted the application and this time I included a check but never heard from them again.
I am certain this is a scam which could make the perpetrators hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars because the amount of money requested is relatively small and most people will not bother to follow this up. I do not want anyone else to be bamboozled. They prey on the needy under the pretext of religious faith. This organization should be investigated by the IRS. I would like to see them jailed.
