In January 2009 I noticed that my interest rate had increased from 9.95 To 21.99.% I called the customer service dept. And was told that I had until 02202009 to opt out our I had to accept the increase or close the account. Their story is that I was sent a statement in 10 2009 about the proposed increase. The notice did not come to this address or I would have closed the account immediately. I spoke with a cs representative And was advised to close the account now to avoid further increases. I closed that same day. When I asked to have my previous rate reinstated I was told that because I had closed my account I had to accept the higher rate. I have tried repeatedly to explain to these people that I knew nothing of the proposed increase but they must have stone heads because nothing sinks in. Since chase bank received a huge bail-out from the taxpayers it would seem to me that they should realize that everyone is having to watch their money and that these large increases in a monthly budget absolutely kills any hope that you will stay current with household payments. I have always paid my monthly bill ahead and more than a minimal payment. I think this is an outrage that a bank that ran itself into the ground will try to recoup out the pocket of the very taxpayers that saved their fanny. I am disabled and my only income is ss disability. What am I and all the other people that they have visited this on to do. Forget our mortgage, meds, food, or do I enhance the chase bank ceo lavish life style. If you dial the cs number listed below you will get a different city or even a different country. 1800 436 792
Thanks for letting me vent, I hope you can use this in some way.
