I received a check for amount of $4950.00 with wells fargo stamp and a letter from Royal Trust Financial stating I was a winner of usa mega millions. I called the number on letter and they told me yes I was a winner and to go and deposit the check in wells fargo and call them when it cleared. The bank teller took the check at store #06826 09 at the town east location and have receipt showing deposited 6/24/2009 deposit it into my account and it was cleared next day with no hold for research on this check. So I called the number back on the letter 1-647-886-1610 or 1-647-88-5032 to inform check deposited and cleared. They said for me to send them amount of $3990.00 and moneygram fee was 135.00 totaling 4125.00 to company OwaryTumari in city of Hamilton Ontario Canada. They said this money was for taxes so I sent it. Next thing I knew after wells fargo CASHED this check and I was able to withdraw and send this money to them come to find out later this was a fraud check and wells fargo closed my account and kept my own $500 and wants me to pay this money back.
I am very upset and unless someone calls me ASAP to resolve this issue and give me my money back and not impair my credit due to Wells Fargo cashing this check which was STUPID when the company did not even put the check on hold long enough to research. I feel like it was banks fault because they cashed the check and the teller even told me they have gotten few of these checks which makes it seem like you were already aware of these bogus checks and cashed this anyway. I am going to go to Channel 4 news and inform them of how I was mistreated by Wells Fargo and what protocols were checked prior to cashing this check and wells fargo is at fault for releasing money to my account and I was able to withdraw. I went to the branch in Mesquite the teller took the letter I got with the check to the manager in back who never came up to speak to me and response was no action taken at all. The teller said I would have to pay the money back.
There was no interest in anyone wanting to kow exactly what happen or asking for a copy of this letter to research in this fraud situation. Wells Fargo wil have to eat this loss of money because if they would not have cashed this fraud check I would not be in this MESS. My bank account now is closed and my credit ruin I will seek legal advice on this situation.
