My daughter, who is no more than a size 6, went to Francesca's Bridal Salon. They ordered her a 12! They said wedding gowns ALWAYS run small! They measured her with all of her clothes and undergarments on - and she ordered a strapless gown. When I questioned this, they said if I stipulated a smaller size and it came in and didn't fit, my daughter would be out of luck!
The gown came in and it was HUGE...Of course, out came the seamstress and she took the gown in at least 6", if not more. They said my daughter lost weight, but she was on Oprah shortly before that, so we know that's not true.
The seamstress stated we had to pay in CASH or there would be no gown! Of course, we paid the almost $400 !!! Then it didn't fit and had to be taken in again for which the owner, Francesca, tried to get my daughter to pay an additional $100. The gown still was too big - hmmmm...could it be b/c they ordered a gown 6 sizes too big?
The reason for this complaint - when my daughter went to pick up her dress - it was so tight we had to take it to the church b/c we were afraid if she sat down in it, it would split. It was actually now smaller than the original she tried on.
When I spoke to Francesca she was very condescending - not once did she offer to refund the amount of the alterations, nor did she take any responsibility for the screwed up alterations! She even had the nerve to tell me that every strapless gown fits everyone the way it did my daughter - the alterations were so poorly done, the gown pulled and pleated from under the bodice to her hips. I think that most people would find that unacceptable and i felt Francesca just said that b/c she thought I was uneducated and/or stupid enough to believe it. At one point she stated I never owned a bridal salon - insinuating that I didn't quite understand the whole ordering larger sizes, outrageous alteration prices, etc.
All I can say, is never, ever use this salon.
