Our Ford Windstar was involved in "two" recalls. The rear axle & the front forward frame. We took it in for the inspection. The car was unsafe to drive. We were told by enterprise the rental car Ford issued was on a month to month contract. The same day they sezied the van, Wed. Feb 10,2011 and called us the next day, Feb 11th, offered us a buy out and told us we had until Mon. Feb.14,2011 "5" days to accept or not and return the rental.5 days! Two weeks prior we had just invested $818.00 on car repairs and tires. We had to send off for the title due to a fire and now as we wait for the title we are being told if it doesn't come soon they will start charging us storage fees for the van that we could not drive because the frame could not be repaired. It was literally broken and hanging on with a few bolts. This same recall was the cause of the death of a ford winstar owner a week before the recall was issued. We were told by the enterprise agent that people who brought their cars in for inspection last fall were still in rental cars. Why and how could you take a car and give the consumer a 5 day window to make the decision and to find another car. Not only have we been treated unfairly but I believe this is a perfect example of consumer fraud. Why would you have other customers in a rental car for months and give us 5 days ?????
