American Home Shield Complaint

For the sake of our two babies - Home Warranty Company

A month ago we called our furnace in for repair. The first repair company came out and decided that it was too difficult to repair - he turned the job back in to American Home Shield (AHS). AHS sent out a second repair company who declared the furnace unrepairable. After weeks of back and forth with AHS and countless of phone calls begging for heat for the sake of my freezing two kids, AHS agreed to replace the furnace. The out of pocket cost to us was $1,375 and an addition $60 for two space heaters my husband went out to purchase. During the back and forth with AHS, which took almost a month, we were without heat and had two kids fighting seasonal colds. This was very stressful - we kept the kids in two, sometimes three, layers of clothing. They slept in coat, hat and gloves. Not to mention we all slept hugged up in one bed. Because this was stressful, my husband and I put stress on AHS. AHS wanted to declare the problem with the furnace as normal wear and tear and were considering not replacing it; leaving us in the cold literally. Well, I wasn't going to stand for that - I mean this is the reason we pay for home warranties. AHS finally replaced the furnace and we now have heat. It was replaced on Tuesday, November 3rd. It is now Thursday, Novenber 5th and we discovered that the furnace is leaking water on the basement floor. But get this, when we called AHS to tell them about the mow leaking water, we were told that our policy, after 6 years of service with AHS, will not be renewed as of December 1st. So to sum it up - because we fought to get heat for the sake of our kids, our home warranty company dropped us. I guess the 6 years of being a loyal customer doesn't mean a thing to AHS.
