State Of Florida / Contractors Complaint

Florida Residents Need To Be Warned About Often Unregulated

- STATE OF FLORIDA
FLORIDA RESIDENTS BEWARE:

Before hiring any contractor you must know the facts!

There are two levels of contractors in the State of Florida. They do not play by the same set of rules. The truth must come out to protect consumers!

Type 1. State Certified contractor - The letter "C" is in front of the license number. They are the best of what the State of Florida has to offer. If you have any complaint submit them to the Florida Dept. of Business and Professional Regulations to request an investigation and disciplinary action.

Type 2. Local county registered contractors. They are restricted to work only in the counties that they are registered in. The letter "R" is in front of their number on their license. BEWARE OF THESE CONTRACTORS!

The State of Florida does not regulate these lower level contractors! The DBPR leaves it up to the individual county. Some counties have good plans in place but others fail miserably!

Bay County (Panama City) has no enforcement whatsoever when it comes to ethics violations, construction fraud, scams and other contractor misconduct.

The only issue that they will address is a "building code violation of the structure it self". They overlook any other complaints. How dangerous is that Bay County homeowners?

How many other counties share in this neglegent and shameful practice?

Also, Florida consumers must be informed that CONVICTED FELONS CAN EASILY BE LICENSED IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA.

ALWAYS CHECK WITH YOUR COURTHOUSE FOR CRIMINAL AND CIVIL BACKGROUNDS BEFORE HIRING A CONTRACTOR!!
