Better Business Bureau Complaint

Better Business Bureau of Northwest Florida.....What a disappointment! - Consumer protection

- Northwest Florida
The BBB of Northwest Florida in my opinion does more harm than good. I first called them to check the status of a local building contractor and they told me that he was in good standing with no complaints. Now I find that is pretty much their standard line even though serious complaints are filed they won't disclose unless it was some little issue that they were able to mediate and resolve.

I informed them about a PREDATORY BUILDIING SCHEME that is becoming intcreasing popular in these bad times where contractors are desperate to make a quick buck.

The representative Mardi Boyd was so nasty and said that "obviously I was just trying to put a bad mark on this good contractor's record" I tried to explain to her that he has several felony convictions for theft and violence and was carrying these well perfected skills out on clients in his business as a general contractor in Panama City, Florida.

Then a month later I had a friend call the BBB to do a reference check and they said "This contractor is in good standing with no complaints filed"

How sad that they won't disclose this complaint and save someone from the same predatory building scheme and violence that has devastated my family.

A story aired on 22 July reported that over 10,000 mortgage officers in the state in FLORIDA have criminal records. Including financial fraud and even bank robbers. The STATE OF FLORIDA really drops the ball when it comes to background checks. There are also well known criminals who work in the construction industry and even own the companies and are fleecing floridians everday. No agency will disclose the complaints to consumers including the BBB as I believe they are afraid of retaliation. There is an article on line from Consumer Affairs.com and they say "contractors are aggressive about suing anyone who complains about them and they are often well connected with local politicians who run the court systems" That is a true statement and sounds an awful lot like corruption. What a shame!!!!!
