124th St is a very busy side street that leads to the RFK Bridge. Traffic from 3rd ave turns onto the street as well as traffic coming through on 124th St.
There are a group of Traffic Control officers, approximately 3 to 5 at a time that stand on the North East corner in a doorway and wait for their prey. Because the street is a standard NY side street the traffic often gets jammed. There is construction on both sides of the street, there is a police precinct mid block and cars parked on both sides of the block.
On 2 occasions I have been waiting for the light at 3rd Ave & 124th St behind either a school bus or a truck. When the light turns green we move forward only to be stopped by traffic before exiting the intersection. At the moment the light changes to red the officers run, yes run out of their cozy den and pounce on the cars that have been stuck in the intersection giving them a ticket for $115.00 (a week's grocery bill)
If this isn't entrapment I don't know what is. They should be helping the traffic move alone.
