76yo Woman who had undergone chemo and radiation of lung & brain cancer over past year using a walker managed to make it into a used car dealership - she had decided she wanted a new vehicle because her's "was dirty". After three hours, they managed to get her current vehicle for $5000 trade in and brow-beat her into giving them another $750 cash for a used vehicle and it was not a great deal; now has 6 year car loan she cannot afford; her family lost the money the paid off vehicle they took as trade in would have brought in to pay some of her bills and terminal expenses. The salesman prayed with her before she left that day. This occurred in September 2011. She has driven the car maybe 5 times; the battery died last week. Went to the dealership - they stated they did nothing wrong; she wanted a car, they sold her one; they "didn't make much on the deal". How she qualified for a car loan is unknown - deep in debt and gettin deeper each day. Did have a family member with her that day who had no clue what her financial situation was/is so was not forceful enough to prevent this from happening. She has been under hospice care since October. Probably nothing legally that can be done. Ethically I feel this is totally wrong. They took advantage of the lady and her family is left to deal with the financial impact.
