Recently our town has been featured on the local news because of our over priced water bills. We are receiving water bills as high as 250 to 300 dollars, we don't know who to turn to and we are forced to either pay the bill or have our services disconnected. Recently I complained to the water bill company because they charged me a 50 dollar reconnect fee for water that had not been disconnected. althrough I made it a day before the disconnect date was set I did have to pay the 5 dollar late fee but a reconncet fee was applied to my account just for my name being put on the list. Our local town government is in a 10 million dollar debt which was incurred by poor decision making and we are left to foot the bill. Our water bill is sometimes higher then our electric bill. My bill usually runs me around 60 to 70 dollars a month but for the past two months have sky rocket to 258 dollars in no its not a leak(which is our departments excuse to all residents who complain about their bill). We are hard working citizens who can't continue to chose between water utilities or groceries. Speaking for myself I do know that I must pay my bills but this is to the extreme this is higher then my cable bill for pete's sake. As I stood in line waiting nervously to see if my billing statement was true of where my eyes going bad. I realized that it wasn't just me with bad eyes two other's where having the same blurred vision. This is so sad with the economy in such a state this just puts the nail on the coffin.
