battery run down by light when motor is shut off - light on for 8 minutes runs down the battery

I have a Dodge Caliber 07 and the light stay on for 8 minutes after I turn off the engine and it runs the battery down since I only drive it a short distance each day. How can I reprogram it for only 2 minutes.
