Dirty Business Practices - Carpet Installation

I had National Floors Direct send a sales person to my home on November 6, 2010 to get a price on having carpet installed. I was very specific as to how I wanted this carpet installed and requested a more expensive method of installation before we discussed price.
Long story short, they could not get it right. We never got to the point where they actually attempted to lay the padding for the carpet. Four crews and three weeks later they could not do the job due to miscommunications, outright lies and promises, I can only assume, they never intended to live up to.
On November 29th I demanded a full refund and was assured that the refund process would start immediately. I was told that the 30 percent deposit check would take up to 15 business days to arrive. The electronic transaction of the balance 70 percent, paid by debit card, would take four to five business days to complete.
The 70 percent was finally returned on December 21st after calling them every two or three days. I was also assured that the check was mailed out as well. To date I have not received all my money.
Last week I called their customer service on the 27th of December again and was told that the check was mailed out and that the holiday mail traffic must have slowed it down. The person I spoke to said I would definitely see it in a day or two. Two days later, the 29th, I called again and was told that the check has not been mailed out and probably would be that day.
I do believe I have been screwed out of 390.00 and have little or no recourse. If this has to go to litigation then so be it. I want the people in our area to know what kind of business National Floors Direct in Avon, MA really is. Shady at best
There were multiple problems with the work crews they sent out here. There are many other details about the rude attitudes of the customer service and sales department personnel that would just take too long to type here.
National Floors Direct has almost 400 complaints logged against them with the Better Business Bureau.
There are several complaint sites on the net with multiple complaints of just this sort throughout.
Obviously I am partially to blame for not doing my homework regarding this company before engaging in business with them but what they are doing is just unethical.
Please have someone look into this company. The people who are running this place need to be held accountable for their actions. The Attourney Generals office directed me to Consumer Protection and they can't really do anything. The Better Business Bureau is essentially just another complaint board. So, apparently, I need to tie up our already over stuffed court system with something like this.
People need to be made aware of the things this company is getting away with.
