When I signed up with DirecTV I was offered 3 free months of Showtime and then I would have to call up and cancel the service or be billed for the service. I attempted to decline this offer at the time of initial service. However, I have been informed that I was unable to do that. So, I have been charged for Showtime for the past year.
When I signed up with DirecTV (and Qwest thereby bundling the two services and Qwest performing the actual billing), I had to go online and submit some coupons to bring my rates down to the price that I was quoted. I did all of that and DirecTV neglected to give me the credits. After approximately two months, I realized that the credits had not taken hold and began calling and attempting to correct the matter. After about a month of arguing with the representatives of DirecTV, they agreed that they had made a mistake. They could not bring my monthly bill down, so they gave me a credit for over $200.00. Therefore, for the next 4 months, I did not have any charges coming through from DirecTV. When the credit ended and the charges showed up, I attempted to call DirecTV and have the Showtime removed. To this date, DirecTV has refused to remove Showtime and continues to charge me for this service.
They refused to let me opt out in the beginning, neglected to properly handle my account so that I would receive accurate billing and then once I realized what they were doing they have refused to allow me to cancel Showtime. At this time, I can not afford to pay my bill because I can't afford the Showtime. Yet, they won't take it off my account forcing me farther and farther into deliquency. I can not imagine that I am the only consumer that they perform these unethical practices with.
