When I signed up for DIRECTV, I was told that by doing so, I would receive a free portable DVD player.
First, I had to make a few calls just to find out how to get the portable DVD player. I was told that to do so, I would need to sign-up for automatic bill-pay. I was not told this when I initally signed-up for DIRECTV.
I did sign up for auto. bill pay and soon after received our DVD player. Problem was that it was not portable, but a standard size player.
I called DIRECTV on Jan. 14 and talked to Angie (#100153508). She told me to send the DVD player back and that they would issue us the correct, portable DVD player.
I did this and a couple of weeks later we were sent another DVD player. While this one was from a different company, it was also not portable. It was a small, but still standard issue DVD player.
I called on February 25 to DIRECTV and a Kellen (?) told me that they were limited to stock on hand. Since they were sold out of the portable DVD players, they gave me what they had. I asked if he had a copy of this in writing that he could email me, but he said that he did not since the promotion was already completed.
During my initial sign-up call and subsequent calls, I was never told that the portable DVD player was limited to stock on hand. I was always told that a portable DVD player would be sent. Period.
To me this is the classic "bait and switch" fraud. I wonder how many others aren't getting their promised portable DVD players?
Please help.
Thank you.
