Direct TV Complaint

Direct TV Scams

- Sebastopol, CA
First when I went to cancel my subscription to direct TV because I was moving to a new location I was charged $160 for cancelling my service two months early. I don't recall signing any contract specifying that, but they just took it out of my bank account without my authorization. I notified the bank (Wells Fargo) that I was unhappy and I made a complaint about that practice.

Secondly, the equipment was not returned in a timely matter and I wasn't aware of it because I had moved, but instead of notifying me about the problem they took another $300 from my account (after I had made the first complaint).

This put me in arrears and I asked Wells Fargo to freeze my account as I didn't have the funds to cover these debits, but they refused to do so. Now I'm overdrawn $1500!! I have 13 overdrafts at $34 each, all because of the money that I felt was improperly taken from me.

Of coarse I'll never be able to get back on track, I don't make that kind of money. I'm on SSI and can barely cover my mortgage.

What can I possibly do? I'm being ignored by Direct TV and Wells Fargo and nobody is willing to listen or help me. Wells Fargo will just keep on piling on the overdrafts. Can anybody get to the bottom of this?

On behalf of DirecTv, I am hereby authorized to send each and every account that has outstanding balances to CBE for collections. This is my job. Pay your bills on time and in full, and we would not have to do this. Being poor/broke is not an excuss, you ordered the service, you pay the bill.

I find DirectTV's comment about as off track as their practices. I know of a person who didn't even have a contract with DirectTV whose bank account was hit for over $1000. Even with 3-way conversations with Wells Fargo and Direct TV, promising to redeposit the money in 8 days (funny how they took the money in 1 day), got NO results. In fact, the person is still fighting/disputing with Wells Fargo about DTV attaching the account. Hmmmm.... funny how they didn't even owe a bill but were charged. I have a tendency to belief that DirectTV does this alot. Check out the complaints on the web. Nice place to work.

.....And that's why I have Comcast. Notice the compassion in Scott West's comment. Apparently he missed out on Customer Service Training. Judging by his grammar and spelling errors he also seems to have missed out on a education. Scott West is a unprofessional, cruel idiot who is further destroying Direct Tv's image. Karma will come soon enough.

I feel your pain. I have read blog after blog of all kinds of complaints against Direct TV bullying. They sure know how to cover their behinds legally. They dont even disclose the full contract to you at the time you sign. They tell you to go to a website to read the terms of your agreement. They suck you in with all kinds of promises and then put it to you. My husband entered a contract with them in Feb and I became unemployed in April so I put the Tv bill to the side. someone called him and he asked them to put it on hold until we get back on our feet. Didnt hear from them for a couple of months and had a outstanding bill for 183 assuming we would pay as soon as we could. They had disconnected us so we thought there was no problem. Friday my account was in the negative over $400. They had gone into my checking account and took $763 out. No phone call no letter. Now I have overdraft fees to pay and they said they would refund our money if we agreed to pay the $183 we owe. (that was my grocery money for the week but oh well my kids need disney channel more than food right?)They told us the money would be back in our account by Wed. Called to make sure it was heading there and how much (I'm counting on $560) Nope $90 by Thurs the $380 in another 30 DAYS. Oh and we went ahead and took the $91 for next months bill. Wait I'm only supposed to pay you $29.99 per month (it's in the contract) sorry its 91 a month for the next 2 years because you reniged on your original contract. I just want to know how many people out there have bothered to go online and read all the words in this contract and what kind of a slimeball comes up with these ingenious contracts that are all in their favor. Bank just shrugs their shoulders and says they cant help us because it wasnt their error. I didnt sign this thing why should I have to suffer? someone needs to put these bullies in their place.
