To make a long story short i was promised a portable dvd player from direct tv for switching back to their services. I have made several calls to direct tv, filled out forms and sent through the mail twice and have been informed i would receive this item in about 6 weeks each time i was in contact with them. Again today i have contacted direct tv of this matter and once again they want me to fill out the paper work and send it again. I'm tired of being lied to and feel as if i have been scammed to obtain my business.

Posted by redneckwoman2420 on 09/21/2007 i was also offered a portable dvd player for signing up with direct tv other satalite company dish network had a better deal as far as channels for the price but i decided to go with direct tv for the free gifts as in the dvd player and the dvr my dvr is suppose to be installed monday which is several months later and the dvd i have called my husband has caller and we have sent the forms still no dvd player my advise is to go with the best deal and direct tv needs to stand by their offers

They keep telling me to send in the rebate and I keep calling and then they told me to go online to register and I found this comment on here. I dont know what to about this situation.

I have a flyer from direct tv not a reseler, it says i have to return a form by 3-5-08, they told me on the phone to go to directtv/freegift and fill out the form. The form says to send in by 12-31/07. What up with this. Also they got me to sign up by telling me that i could call my phone company and bundle my bill with att and get a $10 rebate on my bill for a year. What a lie. I called att and they said that deal is with dish!! This is a very bad way to start a relationship.
Posted by jorshann on 01/28/2008 The same thing happened to me. We installed direct tv on 9/20 and was promised a free DVD player. We never received the certificate and I phoned at least five times and enmailed twice but still do not have the DVD player.

In the beginning of December they verified that they had received my paper work and that I would receive the DVD player by the end og the month. In the middle on Jan. still no player. I called again and was told that it was out of stock and that it would be shipped out by the end of the month. I just called again, 2/14, and was told that they would ship it out with in 10 days. Yah right!!!

You promised me upon choosing directv I would recieve 3 free items. First the 50 dollar gift certificate if I paid by credit card each month. One free portable dvd player, and ten dollars for 12 months off of my account.I have called numerous of times to get each one and each time I was told that I should recieve within 6 to 8 weeks. On Feb. 21 2008, spoke with Fran, and she stated that in 2 weeks I will be credit the 10 dollars to my account and should recieve my 50 dollar visa card and dvd player. On the 12th of March spoke with Jimmy, who stated there was no paper work at all and that I need to go back on directv for free to recieve the dvd player but he would credit the 10 dollars to my account which he did and sent conformation to my email. But to my surprise I go to directv free gift and I can't even get the certificate any more cause I made a copy the last two times I sent it and still no dvd player. Now I was told that your company was very proffessional and sufficient. If I were to cancelled my contract you would want me to be bound to the contract I signed, but when I signed it,it was conformed that I would recieve the three items for choosing directtv. So since I have not recieved my dvd player there should be no penalty for me to cancel my service because you have not kept your end of the deal. Thank you.

I was to get a free dvd player for getting the service before december ended last year, and guess what no dvd player. it's been close to 5 months now and they said I did not mail the offer in time. The said the promotion anded on the 31st of october and it diidn't, i was given a fake tracking number to track the package and when I called they had know clue what the tracking number was for. They need to credit my accout, give me 125 dollar check so i can go get one or just mail it to me.

I sent in the redemption form and never received the player, called DirecTv and was told it's on backorder and it will be sent out once back in stock. Called almost 5 times since then and was promised it will be sent out. Called again on 6/17/08 the Customer Rep said it was expedited and I should receive the player in 3 weeks. On 6/26/08 I got a letter from DTV stating I wasn't eligible to receive the player because I went through a retailer, which I didn't. Being very irate about their lies I called again and spoke to a manager who could give a damn about my issue. Very poor customer service from this company of lies. I'm going to cancel the service and go back to using an antenna. It has better service anyway. Can't wait for FIOS in my area.
Posted by lcade on 08/01/2008 I wrote a complaint earlier about my DirecTV service. Although I have yet to receive my DVD player that I was promised, I have been compensated through a lower bill and free movie channels. I spoke with Brian Schmit and he was very helpful as well as kind and patient. He listened to me and sympathized with my situation. I am now continuing to be a DirecTV customer. Brian Schmit saved the day for DirecTV.
Posted by septembersky57 on 11/04/2008 About a year ago we decided to give them a try. It was suppose to be a bundle package, with the free dvd player. Well our bill came in, and yes there was no dvd player ad we also was billed an outragous price being each the bundle was broke down into different bills which made it more. On top off it, they didn't even know how to install and had nothing but problems. So now we are left with nothing but owing a high bill. Never again.
