Direct TV Complaint

Direct from Hell - Satellite Servce

- Oregon
My service started off with two missed appointments, and when it was finally installed the installer ended up taking a paint sprayer and a battery charger. When I calld Direct to complain, I was told that the problem would be "escalated" and I would receive a call back after they had resolved it. After three months or so, and many phones calls where I was told that it wasn't resolved yet, a supervisor finally told me that it wasn't there problem, that the installer wasn't from their company and I should file a police report, as they had nothing to do with it. Funny, I didn't call anyone to install it. I shouldn't have let that go, but I did. For two plus years I had my service. My service ended when I tried to call them and cancel my service because I could no longer afford it, and was routed into a circle on their automated voice system and email, telling me that I could speak to a representative when my balance was paid in full, which ironically included payment for service that they had provided yet. I waited until they finally shut it off thinking that they were going to send me a bill or the boxes to send things back and that maybe then I could talk to someone about making payments. Didn't happen. The only reason that I finally got boxes was because they erroneously sent me a survey about a recent conversation with their representatives. I filled it out anyway and just kept saying that I wanted the boxes so that I could send my equiptment back. Now, they have taken out an arbitrary dollar amount "randomly selected by their computer systems as to what they they they might be able to get" from my checking account. I did not authorize that payment. When I asked for a copy of my signed authorization saying that they could do that (I never had an automatic payment set up), they informed me that they could because they say they can on their bills. I was also advised that even though I didn't have service, because it had been interrupted, I was charged a basic fee because I could have watched some channels on there although all that ever showed on my TV was their logo dancing on the screen and a sign that said that I needed to call their customer service regarding my account, but when I did that..you guessed it I got the automated voice loop. When I asked if it was the FCC that regulated their service, I was told that I only needed to write their corporate office. I told her that the complaint that I wanted to write, I wanted to write to the regulators, not to their corporate office, she still wouldn't tell me who regulates DirectTV, and that she would only give me the corporate address, not any information on regulators and to have a nice day and hung up. I don't like DirectTV, and I would like to see the surveys that show them as coming in as #1 in customer service. Seems like that might be easy to do, if the only people that you allow to talk with you don't have any financial problems.
