Recently my neighbors lost their home and moved in with me my family. Before Easter I bought a 7PC dining set from Fantastic Furniture Store on Main St. I paid cash so they gave me a discount I paid $700 and $30 for delivery. In about 4 weeks April 28 and April 29 two of the chairs broke, worried for my 78yr old mothers safety on May 1st I asked if I could return it and get my money back. They said no, they would fix them. Two days later, May 3, two more chairs broke. The manager said the factory screws were too short and he could fix it himself. When I took the last two broken chairs on May 5th, I asked him to please return my money, he said he could not. Then I asked him to please give me store credit because I was not comfortable with it at all, after a very long intense conversation he was speaking with my neighbor in Spanish I told him he could take off a % that he thought was correct and give me store credit. So he called me the next morning on my cell phone saying he had a set exactly like the one I saw on his showroom floor for $797 the only difference was the color of the chairs. He charged me $975 for the new set. From the original $700 I paid he took off 70, which leaves $630 of store credit and I had to pay $345 more, one day before Mothers Day. I told him he was ripping me off and if I were a man I don't think he would be doing this. I couldn't get my money back and I didn't have enough money to buy something somewhere else and he knew it. He kept saying I could go somewhere else and buy something else in the store. I went to the bank and paid him $345 cash. He packed the chairs in my van and told me I had to put the table together myself. The strange thing about the table box...it has LOWES tape all over it. It seems like it was refurbished. When I was taking the chairs out of the van I noticed that the chair leg was cracked! I took it right back and he said it wasn't his fault and he would have to get it from the factory. He said for me to keep the chair, he wouldn't take it. I have pictures. I paid $1045 for junk furniture. I am a single parent taking care of my mother and opening my home to my neighbors, I'm always trying to do the right thing. I was never rude or angry with the manager. This is so unfair. I just want my money back I have another chair leg that is cracking too. I kept all of my receipts also. I hope you will be able to help me. I don't know what else to do.
