My companion and I were traveling on a cruise down the River Rhein when my companion, took sick and was taken by taxi to the Krankenhaus St Josef (this is a hospital) on May 19, 2010 in Ruedesheim, Germany Before the hospital would admit my companion they wanted his credit card and proceeded to charge him 3,000 euro's which equated $3,693.15 (our money) The only thing this hospital did was to give him some pain medicine and a lot of tests. He never even got a tooth brush.
He was released on May 21, 2010 and had to take a taxi back to ship which was now two ports away for cost of $330 or 245 euros. The hospital promised to mail an itemized bill to our home. He cannot collect from his primary insurance without an itemized and he cannot collect from the travel insurance either without the itemized bill
We departed May 28 from the ship in Vienna, went to airport and found that our flight had been cancelled (British Air). British air claimed they notify us.
(I found out they notified the ship the day after we departed.) We had reserved seats on our flight with British Air which was an additional cost and still have noy heard from them. I have e-mailed them twice.
On May 29th I, his companion, started making numerous phones to Globus, British Air, with follow-up letters and e-mails.
I was desperate enough to contact our United States State Department who promised to send someone from the consulate in Germany to the hospital. My travel agency called the hospital and they promised to e-mail a copy of the itemized bill to the agency.
Todate. all I do is e-mail, write letters and am completely frustrated. No help, no responses, What do W
we do. Can you help?
We are both senior citizen. My companion is 84 and a world war II vet. I am just an ordinary person trying to help.
