Dermatology Office Complaint

Bad bedside manner

A year ago I contacted a Dermatology office to see about a continuing acne problem. I went numerous times and only was seen by a nurse practitioner. I was prescribed numerous medications which never worked, but only aggrevated the condition. I insisted to see the dermatologist on my next visit but still only saw the nurse practitioner. Since I am a patient who feels very timid in a doctors office, I did not say anything, but made another appointment to see the doctor. When I finally saw the doctor, he pretty much did the same thing the nurse did and prescribed the same internal medication, but with a different topical solution. Again, my condition worsened and when I called to let them know, which one can only leave a voice mail and wait for a call back. When the nurse called back, she was very condescneding and did'nt even research my file before she called. All she told me was to lessen my use of a cleanser, which I purchased from their office, because my problem was probably due to over drying my skin. Another two weeks passed and not relief. I called and left a message to see if they could prescribe accuntane which has worked for me in the past. They called back and said that accutain requires too much of their time because one has to spend twenty minutes on line to register the patient. So they referred me to another Dermitalogist. I feel this doctor did a real diservice by continueing to take my money and the insurance money for all this time, not show concern or empathy, and treats a patient like so badly when THEIR medical treatment does not work, and a patient might pose to be a challenge. So here I sit with a worse acne condition than when I started. I can only hope that this new doctor will be a litte more empathetic. And I will not be as timid this time. I want to complain so that another patient is not treated the same way that I was by this physicians office.
